GEOVANNI ABING is a collage and mixed-media artist based in Bohol,
Philippines. He is always drawn to the process of creating art from
discarded materials and eventually found up cycling magazines and old
books his weapons of choice. His bright-toned artworks, characterized by
a distinct expressionist flavour, are made from carefully selected
pieces of paper. His portfolio consists of a selection of personal
subjects and some of the world's most iconic personalities. He also
brings to life some of his unique surreal characters through mixed media
paintings.
A self-taught artist, Abing is an emerging talent to
look out for as he continues to bring a refreshing taste of contemporary
art to the canvas. His latest artworks were featured by Graphika
Manila, Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions by Veronica
Ramirez. He was also named as one of the "10 Artists to Watch Out For"
by Status Magazine and "10 Filipino Artists You Should Follow on
Instagram" by Spot.PH in 2015. In 2016, Abing was selected to be part of
Art Fair Philippines under Paseo Gallery.
